Printer redirection on Windows Server 2008 R2 from Linux

Yes, its possible, and easy.

Lets say you have an Ubuntu box in the client side. You have an HP LaserJet 3390 connected on your local lan, which you can print to.
You have a remote Windows 2008 R2 server which you RDP into regularly, and want to get print outs from. Earlier this was simple, and the rdesktop command line made it easy with the “-r printer:” switch.
In 2008 all you have to do is to pass the *server* side printer driver name with rdesktop command line as well.

So for example you would need to do this:

rdesktop -r printer:MyPrinterName=”HP LaserJet 3390 / 3395 PCL”
