Entrpreneurship Caveat

November 14, 2011 at 6:57 am (Uncategorized)

We speak of entrepreneurship as if it is a special thing, whereas in villages and towns across India most people who earn a living are entrepreneurs who have their own shops or local businesses. Kids who work at sweet shops cleaning tables and cycle shops fixing punctured tyres invariably setup their own shops. Yet, we the enlightened and the educated do not think of it as an obvious means of earning our daily bread. The BPO and the software industry manages to pay us just enough to keep these feelings from surfacing. What can not be ignored though, is that this industry provides employment to lakhs and lakhs of youth. In our poor country this step has to be taken first. Only then does entrepreneurship come into the picture. Imagine how many of us would struggle to earn our daily breads if a TCS or an Infosys did not exist.
